Due to his quest for knowledge, Ahmed went further to obtain a master’s degree in International Affairs and Defence Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna in 2014. During his military career, the senior officer attended several courses to broaden his knowledge and sharpen his skills in the field of Military Science. Some of which include Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the prestigious Command and Staff College Jaja, Nigeria; Officers Basic Provost and Regulating Course at the Nigerian Navy Provost and Regulating School; Nigerian Navy Ship QUORRA, Apapa, Lagos; and Instructional Technique Qualifying Officers’ Course at the Nigerian Navy Centre for Education and Training Technology, among others.
Commander Ahmed Tijjani had the privilege to serve in several capacities both at home and abroad during his military career. Some of the appointments held include Commandant, Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he was the CEO and oversaw the day-to-day running of both academic and administrative issues, including managing financial and human resources. Staff Officer Grade One, Records at Command Naval Drafting (CND), Point Road, Apapa Lagos, where he oversaw all NN ratings’ service records and ensured that they were kept up to date. Commander Abdullahi also worked at the prestigious National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja, Nigeria, as a staff officer grade one, Curriculum and Programme Development, in the Department of Curriculum and Programme Development. While on this assignment, some of his schedules included compilation of the course programme/curriculum, and monitoring of the course programme’s implementation. Furthermore, he assessed the invited guest lecturers who presented papers to the participants, writes report on the end-of-module programme, and subsequently forward the reports to the Commandant of the College. The senior officer served with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) at Sector 6 Headquarters as a Staff Officer, Grade One Personnel and Administration. Currently, he is the Commandant of the National Defence College Day Secondary School, Ushafa Bwari since September 2022 till date.
Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi is a recipient of several awards, some of which include Pass Staff Course (psc), Forces Service Star (FSS) and Meritorious Service Star (MSS), among others. He is a member of Nigerian Institute of Management and Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.
Ahmed is married with children, and during his leisure periods, he enjoys reading books of interest, watching TV documentaries, and playing badminton, among others.
